Recruitment Forum reveals candidates dislike of having to register in order to apply for jobs on-line
Senior professionals from Virgin Airways, Sainsburys, Mitchells and Butlers and Hilton Hotels were among representatives from leading UK organisations at Changeworknow's On-line Recruitment Forum in London.
Sally Temple, Succession and Recruitment Manager, Currys and Dixons Tax Free astounded delegates with the success of the new on-line recruitment system for store colleagues. Launched earlier this year across 600 stores this system has been widely acclaimed by both candidates and managers. Candidates are of higher quality and the speed to hire has significantly improved. Managers comments include:
"Over the moon with the quality of candidates"
"With this tool we will be the pace setters"
Delegates heard from Lesley Nash, Managing Director of Changeworknow, about the latest research into the importance of the candidate on-line recruitment experience including:
- Candidates dislike of having to register before applying - over 40% of candidates have been deterred from applying on-line because of this
- Over 90% of candidates applying on-line feel it is important to get immediate feedback although in practice this very rarely happens. A fifth of candidates are therefore left feeling negative about the hiring organisation
- Candidates are willing to spend more time than they currently do completing an on-line process - 30% are prepared to spend up to 45 minutes on-line
- Technical problems with website or on-line process will leave 60% feeling frustrated and negative about the organisation
The event will be featured in the HR press in the coming weeks and in Retail Week in early 2007.
